The Blue Ogre manifested following an incident that occurred at the Bitterwater Lake Research Station, where scientist Benjamin Frost had been posted for the last three winters. Isolation, academic disappointment, and the crushing weight of unmet expectations created the perfect storm for manifestation.
The Ogre exhibits a unique affinity for cold and water, traits not typically seen in this sin type. Its miasma takes the form of a bitter winter fog that freezes everything it touches, including portions of the lake itself.
The Blue Ogre's miasma is characterized by a freezing fog that reduces visibility to near zero and gradually lowers ambient temperature to dangerous levels. The miasma currently extends approximately 2 miles from the research station across Bitterwater Lake.
Current pressure has resulted in the following effects:
Benjamin Frost was a promising climatologist whose career stalled after his research into rapid ice melt patterns was discredited by his mentor and department head, Dr. Eleanor Whittaker. His exile to Bitterwater Lake was effectively a career death sentence, and his continued failure to produce meaningful results only deepened his despair.
Exorcists investigating these trauma questions may find leads at Northlake University's Department of Climatology, Benjamin's estranged family in Cedar Falls, or his abandoned apartment in the university town.
The Blue Ogre can regenerate rapidly from injuries, particularly in cold environments.
The Blue Ogre has exceptional control over water, ice, and ambient temperature.
The Blue Ogre can inflict mental anguish reflecting its own inner despair.

Risk Die | Stress Inflicted |
---|---|
1 | 5 stress |
2-3 | 3 stress |
4+ | 2 stress |
The Blue Ogre freezes the moisture in the air, creating a treacherous environment. Movement becomes hard, and any action requiring manual dexterity is also hard until the complication is dealt with.
The Blue Ogre attempts to encase an exorcist in ice. If successful, the exorcist is immobilized and takes 1 stress at the start of each round until freed.
The Blue Ogre summons a bitter cold that penetrates to the bone. All exorcists must spend 1 psyche burst or take 2 stress as their body temperature plummets dangerously.
The Blue Ogre can use this ability on a '1' on the risk roll. It can only be used once per mission.
The Blue Ogre summons a localized blizzard of incredible intensity, enveloping the target in a cocoon of extreme cold. The target and any who aid them roll as per the severe attack rules. For each '1' rolled, the target suffers hypothermic shock, taking 2 stress and becoming sluggish (all physical actions are hard) until they rest.
If two or more '1's are rolled, the target's extremities begin to freeze. Roll 1d6:
These effects persist until properly treated, requiring medical attention or a heat source and time. After the mission, affected areas heal but may bear permanent frostbite scars.
The Blue Ogre's tumblers take the form of shambling ice sculptures, their limbs and extremities dripping with freezing water that re-freezes upon contact with any surface.
Inflict stress: Attacks with frozen limbs, ice spears, freezing touch. (1) 1 stress, (2-3) 3 stress, (4+) 2 stress.
Create a complication or threat: Grab someone, freeze the ground, shatter into dangerous shards, create slippery surfaces.
The Blue Ogre's palace is located at the center of Bitterwater Lake, accessible through a crack in the ice that has formed despite the season. The palace takes the form of a twisted, inverted version of the research station, suspended beneath the ice ceiling of a massive cavern.
Inside, the walls are formed of perfectly transparent ice that reveals the frozen forms of various animals and, closer to the center, humans who wandered too deep into the miasma. The central chamber houses Benjamin Frost's makeshift laboratory, where the host continues to work obsessively on climate models that now show the entire world locked in eternal winter.
Temperature inside the palace ranges from -40°F to -60°F, requiring exorcists to have appropriate protection or face 1 stress per scene from extreme cold.
